Broken-winged eagle
fast falling, bound to Earth.
From ashes reborn.

Broken-winged eagle
fast falling, bound to Earth.
From ashes reborn.

Today, I sat to write a post and I had nothing. My mind was blank, my heart felt heavy. As I was ready to close my notebook and throw the pen, the image of a soaring eagle crossed my mind. Then, I wrote.
Eagle’s Flight
Land of the Free
Land of the Brave
Beloved soil, beloved grave.
*
Sadness, despair, chaos everywhere
Tumultuous times
Ungodly affairs.
*
The eagle lands
Its tired wings
Signs of derail, never defeat.
*
A little while, a tiny rift
Its wings will flap
Its heart will heal.
*
Above the land, throughout the seas
The Eagle soars
In flight now, stronger it is.

From the Ashes
From the ashes Eagle soars
plumage burnt,
through the fire it has flown.
*
In its beak, an olive leaf
In its heart
titanium shield.
*
As lion it roars, as lamb its soul
Made anew through the storm
Diamond eyes, beak of gold.
*
Beacon of light shines to the world
Stronger than ever
its grip has become.
*
Freedom and hope it found way above
Under God, one nation
Under God, one soul.

I have not been able to write a poem in so long. As I watched the evening news yesterday, this one came to me, as a prayer for our nation.
A Great Eagle’s Prayer
Through the dark clouds
an eagle soars
A ray of light
its wings restores.
Following the sun
wings spread, sublime it soars
Higher and higher its climb
for land and freedom implores.
High in the sky Great Eagle sees
darkness is gone, freedom restored
For God has seen its bloody wings
flapping in prayer, closer to heaven.
High in the sky Eagle can see
the fragile land that lies beneath
Its vision keen, its wings are strong
in God it trusts, its heart has healed.
Stronger than ever the Eagle stands
in Faith, in Freedom, in Holy Land
For it has conquered darkness of soul
the serpent crushed, in God it trusts.
I had to dedicate this post to my awesome friends – Toni, Beth, Kathi, and RJ. Well, last night, I had my first unofficial book signing, thanks to them. I was supposed to meet two of them at a Portuguese restaurant, or so I thought, but when I got there, they had a surprise get together for me – great food, great conversation, goodies, and yes, books to be signed. It was a night full of yes – you guessed it – AWESOMENESS! My only regret is that I was so enjoying their company that I totally forgot to take pictures with my phone, 😦 so these after the event will have to do.
Guys, I had a great time, wait no, the word is Super-Awesome time – I love you.
On a totally unrelated topic, but certainly full of awesomeness, yesterday I spotted an Eagle perched on one of the trees in front of my house. I have never seen one in this area, so it was a treat. I hope that I get to see it again.
It was eating a bird, yummy! Wait no, what are you screaming Mr. Eagle? OH, I see, I must correct myself, then – Mr. Eagle says that the bird he is eating is full of AWESOMENESS!
